The Grazing Cow
| RJ and I had seen a new burger place that opened in Plano by Garden Ridge close to I75 and Spring Creek Parkway. We'd been dying to try it but it's only open Monday thru Saturday, 11-ish to 3ish, so we were limited to trying to make it out some Saturday. And we did. It's not exactly what we expected - but much better. The Grazing Cow is located on the backside of the strip center at the corner of Spring Creek Pkwy and Avenue K. It actually faces the south entrance to Garden Ridge but is a little hard to see unless you are in the parking lot. The decor inside is very simple. The walls are all brightly painted and reminded me of the old Smothers Brothers' tv show with a sock-it-to-me, Flower Power theme. There are maybe 12 tables and some counter space along the front window. You order at the 'counter' which is pretty much a table set up by the door with a register on it.....nothing fancy The menus are posted on the wall by the counter. And like the decor, the menu is simple too. You can get a 1/3 lb burger or a 2/3 pound burger.....they'll come with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. Pick from a brioche or wheat bun and you can add a variety of neat things for an extra charge- cheeses, bacon, grilled onions or green chilies, fried eggs, portabellas, guacamole, chili, even artichokes. |

I got the 1/3 , called The Natural" with all the fixin's and Danish blue cheese. RJ ordered the 2/3 lb. "Bloated Burger" - all the fixins plus American cheese. They were both out-of-this-world. Unbelievably fresh natural, grass-fed beef patties make these burgers great. They were perfectly done to order and super juicy. The "Freakin' Fries" offered all sorts of possibilities too- they come 'dusted' if you wish - your choice of smoke (our pick), ranch, cajun or Italian 'dust' on them and you can have any of their 'dips' to go with them. Select any or all of them - chipotle cream (that was my fav), cilantro cream, horseradish cream, and of course, ketchup. For drinks, they offer sodas, ice tea and "Fancy Pants" lemonades (pomegranate, dark cherry, key lime and mango).....the dark cherry was mighty tasty. You can also get salads, sliders, hot dogs, cheese fries, and dessert. While we were there this past Saturday around 11:30am, there was a steady stream of customers. I think word has spread about The Grazing Cow and it's all good. The Grazing Cow 6100 K Avenue Plano, TX 75074 (972) 422-6297 www.thegrazingcowburgers.com |
