  Independence Day celebration in the newly renovated Cotton Bowl to rank among North Texas’ largest fireworks programs with spectacular national-class Grucci fireworks, Dallas Wind Symphony concert, free museum admission, kids activities and more concessions.

  • 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Free admission to museums
  • 7 p.m. – Cotton Bowl gates open
  • 8:30 p.m. Dallas Wind Symphony patriotic concert in the Cotton Bowl
  • 9:30 p.m. Fireworks by Grucci program in the Cotton Bowl (viewing area with synchronized sound to choreographed music broadcast live on WRR 101.1 FM)
  • North Texas’ largest Independence Day celebration – the Dr Pepper Snapple Group FAIR PARK FOURTH -- moves to the newly renovated Cotton Bowl this year with larger and higher fireworks, more games and more concessions! On Saturday, July 4, 2009, from 4:30 – 10 p.m., this family friendly event will feature a national-class fireworks program and a patriotic presentation featuring the Dallas Wind Symphony, free admission to all the museums, kids activities, musical performances and plenty of July 4th food favorites! Fair Park Fourth is free and open to the public.

    Fireworks by Grucci, one of the nation’s premiere fireworks pyrotechnics firms and “America’s First Family of Fireworks,” has produced unforgettable fireworks programs for the Olympic Games, Statue of Liberty Centennial, New Year’s Eve Celebrations in New York City and six consecutive Presidential Inaugurations.

    The fireworks will be synchronized to choreographed music with live broadcast on WRR 101.1 FM. Viewing areas with sound will be located in the Cotton Bowl only.

    The Dallas Wind Symphony will perform a patriotic music concert at 8:30 p.m., featuring the Dallas Wind Symphony, the famed Hell Cats (who began 220 years ago during the American Revolution) from the United States Military Academy at West Point and powerful baritone Alvy Powell, who sang at President Ford’s funeral and has performed the role of Porgy in the Gershwin opera Porgy & Bess over 1,100 times at the world’s elite opera houses.

    Also, the various Fair Park museums will offer free admission from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. The Texas Skyway Ride will be $5 per person or $20 per carload (cash only). Swan Rides also will be available for $10 per boat (up to 3 people per boat). NOTE: Due to construction, the Esplanade fountain will not be operating, and the Hall of State, Aquarium and Planetarium will be closed.

    Dr Pepper will bring its Club23 traveling exhibition loaded with free samples and coupons, video games, deejay and dance floor, plasma TVs and more.
