Poppy's Garden Cafe
There's a place right off the square in McKinney that we enjoy going to occasionally called Poppy's Garden Cafe. Poppy's is a pretty place with a large patio outside, terraced areas with walkways and fountains and an inside bar and dining room that's comfortable and cozy. They have live music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays outside and I'm sure it makes for a lovely evening.
The times we've visited, it's been too warm for us to eat outside so we've gone inside. The decor is casual - dark wood walls, crisp blue tablecloths and bright red poppys covering the booths.
The menu is pretty varied too. Last time we were there, it was at lunchtime. I ordered the Brie BLT - applewood smoked bacon, avocado, tomatoes, sprouts, black pepper mayo on toasted bread, served with fries and a pickle slice. It was good - toasted just right with the cheese warmed through, plenty of bacon, tomatoes and avocados and a smear of mayo.

RJ selected the Texas Club Sandwich - turkey, ham, bacon, swiss and cheddar cheese, with pepper mayo, also served with fries. I know he enjoyed his- he cleaned his plate!
At lunch, you can pick from salads, appetizers (like Tempura Fried Green Beans), sandwiches and entrées. The dinner menu is a little more extensive with more entrée choices - ribeye, tuna, salmon, crab cakes, chicken dishes, pastas and more. The also have a full bar and several Happy Hour specials.
Going to Poppy's would make for a fun day or a great evening out. You can find it tucked away on the north west side of the downtown square. Plus, you can take a stroll around town afterwards!
