Esteban's Restaurante
Here's a pleasant surprise - Esteban's Restaurante that recently opened in the Firewheel Shopping Center in North Garland. Esteban's offers a new name to Tex-Mex Cuisine with age old family recipes from the Esteban Rios family. You'll recognize their name because of Manny's Uptown and others.
We didn't even realize Esteban's existed until RJ saw a listing for it on the Firewheel web site while searching for something else. We decided to have dinner there one Friday evening and upon arriving, were happy to find a good crowd but no wait. After perusing the large menu, we decided to get a popular Esteban's appetizer (and our waitress' recommendation) - the Brisket Queso. This stuff was divine- lots of tender, juicy brisket, queso and pico de gallo served with crisp chips. I can see why this is a favorite amongst their diners.

Since these folks are part of the same family that has Manny's Uptown and anything brisket at Manny's is alright by me, I elected to go with Esteban's World Famous Brisket Tacos for my entrée. Oh my...this was absolute goodness. The dish consisted of two soft brisket tacos, filled with that same juicy, extremely tender brisket, cilantro, onions and peppers, served along with tasty Spanish rice, refried beans and avocado slices. There was also a little cup of a pale brown gravy to put on your tacos, which added a perfect touch.
RJ got the Tacos Al Carbon - two plump soft tacos stuffed full of thinly sliced, marinated ribeye and accompanied by rice, Ranchero beans and guacamole.
Both dishes were excellent and prices at Esteban's are good as was the service. The owner stopped by to check on us a couple of times and we expressed our pleasure with everything. This place makes a great addition to the restaurants already at Firewheel. They have a good sized dining room, nice bar and a pretty patio area outside.
Check it out soon and we sure to try the brisket 'anything'
