Readers' Suggestions
I've recently gotten a few suggestions from readers about places to visit. RJ and I haven't had a chance to check them out yet but I thought I'd pass them along to you.
The first comes from Sumera of Plano and she suggested the Doubletree Hotel Dallas Campbell Center for a quick get-away. Sumera points out that it's a great location across from the NorthPark Mall, access to the Dart light Rail station and just a few miles from Downtown entertainment.

They offer romantic getaway packages, bed & breakfast packages and several other specials if you look online:

The second suggestion I got was from Warren in Albany, a town that TEXAS MONTHLY Magazine, in their June 2003 issue, called the Coolest Small Town in Texas, Warren mentions.
He adds that it's near the Fort Griffin State Park which was recently transfered to the Texas Historical Commission because of its value to the history of Texas.
Warren continues:
Albany is home to a world class fine arts museum; www.theoldjailartcenter.org
And every June it's home to the oldest outdoor musical in Texas: http://www.fortgriffinfandangle.org/
There are many more things to see and do in this area. For more info look here: www.albanytexas.com
A world famous steakhouse is the place to eat, visited by Ted Nugent and Robert Duvall among others: http://www.justgoodeats.com/restaurants/show.php?record_ID=16
Of course, a great place to stay is at Casa de Carmen; www.casadecarmen.net

My close friend Marty suggested a day trip to Mineola where she lives. Mineola offers several attractions such as the Mineola League of Arts, the Mineola Historical Museum, Veterans Memorial Park, Cross Country Line Gospel Jubilee, the Mineola Nature Preserve (http://www.mnpfriends.org/), Blueberry Ridge Farm (http://www.blueberryridgefarm.com/) and more. And, it's just a hop, skip & jump form Dallas.
