Pepe's & Mito's in Deep Ellum
We've eaten there three times now and have always had a good meal. Our son & d-i-l had previously recommended the Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas - those got an A+ from me. That chipotle sauce that smothered the plump enchiladas was heavenly - very smoky, spicy & creamy. You can also find the same sauce on a few other menu items. I noticed one of the folks at the birthday party this weekend got a grilled chicken breast topped with it and she raved about it.
This time, I wanted something a little more on the lines of comfort food and selected one of Pepe's & Mito's combination plates- a cheese enchilada and a chicken enchilada. Both were perfect and done just right. Served with rice, beans and a bit of salad and it was just what I needed.
RJ tried an item from their breakfast - a plate of chorizo breakfast tacos, rice & beans. The tacos were thin corn tortillas, stuffed with their homemade chorizo and rolled. Another A+!
Around our table, I saw party members ordering fajitas, nachos, quesadillas, tacos, guiso, and a shrimp cocktail and all of it looked delicious. Every item got a big thumbs up.

Pepe's & Mito's has a covered and partially enclosed patio area as well as three large rooms, all cheerful and with lots of colorful paintings around. The service is good- our waiter had to tend to 15 of us and there was never a lag. He was attentive and stayed on top of drinks, chips and salsa at all times.
The Annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival was going on when we were there. Parking was a little difficult because of that (we luckily found a metered spot on the street) but inside at the restaurant, there was no waiting.
They have an extensive bar and inexpensive margaritas and it's certainly worth the trip down, even if you just get an order of nachos with a couple of ice cold cervazas!
