Asado's Mexican Restaurant , Sachse
After getting a "buy one entree, get one half off" coupon in an Ad Saver booklet for Asado's Mexican Restaurant, we decided to give it a go.
Asado's is located in Sachse in a strip shopping center along HWY 78. It's pretty easy to spot- it's close to the street and especially easy to see if your heading south on 78.
We got there around noon on a Saturday and there were a few patrons already eating. They have nice decor and the place is pretty good-sized. Although we didn't go in, it appreared that the bar area was big and in a separate room altogether.
They sat us down and took our orders. RJ got his usual brisket tacos - he LOVES his brisket tacos - and gave them a thumbs up. They were served with rice and beans and in a pretty rpesentation.
I went with shredded pork tacos, also served with rice and beans.... however, that's not what I got. Instead, I was served grilled tilapia tacos, which I must admit, I didn't even realize they weren't pork until I had finished the first taco. How, you ask, could I not know this was fish rather than pork? Well, I'm stumped too but I even got RJ to taste and he thought they could be pork - or fish. I didn't send them back- I was fine with the tilapia. They were great and I am beginning to really like fish tacos (the thought of them used to turn me off - until I actually tasted one
) The tilapia was grilled to perfection and the flour tortillas were then stuffed with lots of the fish. The rice I had was different from RJ's- mine was lighter in color and looked like it had more spices in it. Very good too!
Prices were in keeping with most places and the service was fine. We noticed they have just begun a Sunday Brunch buffet that looks like it's worth checking out too.
