J's Breakfast & Burgers in Addison

Last weekend, we found another new breakfast spot, one we had seen on a previous venture. We thought it looked intriguing and figured it was worth giving it a go.

J's Breakfast & Burgers is at the end of a strip center on Midway Road in Addison, close to Beltline. When we pulled up outside, it had a hefty amount of cars in front. We walked in and a waitress instructed us to grab a table & she's bring menus.

The atmosphere in J's is much like a coffee shop. There are tables, booths and counter stools. The decor was fairly cheerful and the place was clean. We found a table right away with no problem, but others behind us had to wait. You could tell right away too that filled with regulars. There were lots of folks enjoying a leisurely meal over coffee and a newspaper. It looked home-y!

The menu offered a good deal of breakfast items and RJ liked the looks of the chicken fried steak, 2 eggs, grits & toast - all for $7.25. It was a hefty looking meal! He gave it a big thumbs up and also gave the coffee there a good nod.

I wanted to try a burger- after all, it is called "Breakfast AND Burgers" ..... I got 'J's Special'- a double cheeseburger with fries for $6.25. It was a REAL hamburger - thick hand-shaped patties, cheese, all the fixin's and very good fries.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to J's Breakfast & Burgers. If there is an minus to going there, it's that there is no real divider between the smoking & non-smoking section - the front half of the room is where the smokers sit, the back half is for non-puffers. We were in the far back & could smell cigarettes easily. Otherwise, the food is terrific- real comfort stuff.
