This weekend was great! The weather was wonderful and RJ was finally feeling good again after his bout with the flu. We both wanted to get out and enjoy things.

So, we started with Friday night. RJ picked Mi Cocina in Richardson (at Campbell & Coit). The food is always good and the atmosphere at that location is nice. We had a short wait but that was ok. Hey, it was FRIDAY and we were grateful for that! 

Once we got to our table, the waiters came quickly, RJ ordered us each a frozen margarita and the chips and salsa appeared. The fun began!

RJ wanted me to try the Mama's Tacos. His boss took him to lunch at another Mi Cocina awhile back. They both got those and RJ's been dying to go back for more ever since. He chose the chicken version and I got beef. We split an order of guacamole too.

The guac came first and was beautifully plated- a very generous helping on a banana leaf, garnished with tomatoes, lime and a chip. And... it was excellent.  Good quality avocados and spiced up just right. It had that great, buttery taste. Just perfect!

Then our Mama's Tacos arrived. Oh my goodness. These were unbelievable and, again, a pretty presentation on the plate. The tacos were in flour tortillas (but you have your choice of flour or corn) with fajita meat & cheese stuffed inside, folded in half and then lightly grilled so that the tortillas had a slight crispness to them. They were heavenly! Accompanying the tacos were rice and avocado slice. Mama's Tacos are $13.25 - not inexpensive but certainly worth it. 

Mi Cocina also owns Taco Diner, another favorite of ours since our son introduced to it a few years ago. Both get big thumbs up from us.
