Texas Roadhouse in North Garland

Hi, All,

We tried an other new place for dinner this week, Texas Roadhouse. This one is on the service road for GBT 190 close to Garland Avenue, in north Garland. We'd been wanting to go there but the timing was never right until now.

Got there about 7pm. It was crowded but we didn't have to wait. The hostess asked if we'd been there before and when we told her 'no', she grabbed a black silk rose along with the menus. She plopped that rose into a bucket of peanuts on our table.

Shortly, our server appeared to take drink orders. He explained that they hand cut their steaks when you order and several items on the menu are made from scratch, including their salad dressings and rolls. Sounded good!

Next came a basket of those aforementioned rolls with a tub of honey butter. They were great- warm and yeasty - and the honey butter was perfect.

The manager came to our table with a small bowl of their chili, crackers and two spoons. She said she had been told it was our first visit (hence the black rose and wanted us to check it out. Another very pleasant surprise and it did indeed taste homemade. We're both a little picky about chili and don't care too much for canned chili taste. This passed the test.

The waited brought our drinks and took our dinner orders.

Hubby went with the New York Strip and I picked my old favorite, the ribeye. The dinners came with two sides- RJ selected a Caesar salad and baked potato, I took a house salad and baked sweet potato.

The meal came and was delicious. Steaks were cooked exactly as ordered and the sides did not disappoint.

We were too stuffed for dessert but I'm sure they have some great homemade choices.

We liked the rustic look of the place. The crowd was a little loud...I wouldn't suggest going there for a nice, quiet romantic dinner but I think most anyone would enjoy the food.

They offer steaks, chicken, burgers, sides, salads ... all the regulars... and the prices were reasonable. I think with two dinners and drinks (beer and tea), it was around $40.00.
